My dryer vent brush broke off inside the duct and then I made it worse with a coat hanger
Last month in Portland, I tried clearing lint with a $15 brush kit and the head snapped off about 8 feet in, then my coat hanger hook bent and pushed it deeper, so I had to cut the duct open in three places and patch it with foil tape, has anyone else had to slice their own ductwork after a snake tool failed?
Saw a video once where a guy used a leaf blower from the outside and it just shot the lint ball out like a cannon. That got me thinking, but your situation is way past that point. Honestly, cutting the duct open sounds brutal but at least you got to see the mess. Foil tape is what everyone uses but it never sticks great after a few dry cycles. Those flexible hoses are the worst for this stuff, they've got all those ridges that grab everything. Next time maybe just spring for a pro with one of those spinning rods, cheaper than a new dryer and three patches.
