Found a 1987 Land Cruiser in a barn outside Boise with the original radiator still in it
I drove out to a farm near Kuna two weekends back to look at a '87 FJ60 a guy had parked in his hay barn since 2009. The radiator, hoses, and water pump were all factory original, and none of them leaked after 14 years of sitting. I asked him why he never swapped them and he shrugged and said he just topped off the coolant once a year and changed it when it looked brown. That got me thinking my habit of replacing every rubber part on a 5 year schedule might be throwing away good stuff. Is there a real way to tell when a hose or radiator is actually done, or do you just run them until they fail?
