Can we talk about the Fuji X100 leaf shutter that ate 11 hours of my life
Customer brought in an X100 with a shutter that would fire but hang open on slow speeds. I quoted two hours, tops. Pulled the lens block, cleaned the blades, put it back, same problem. Tore it down again and found a tiny bit of grit wedged under one blade pivot, maybe a quarter the size of a pinhead. That was day one. Spent the next three evenings chasing an intermittent flex cable fault that turned out to be a bent pin on the connector I'd reseated wrong on the first go. Total was 11 hours over four nights for what should've been a two hour job. My own sloppy reassembly cost me more time than the actual fault did. So what's your worst case of chasing your own mistake on a repair like this? And does anyone actually use a checklist on reassembly or is that just me being lazy?
