Wrote off the $85 hot air rework station as junk, then it saved a customer's $600 board
I grabbed a cheap hot air station off the sale rack at the Fry's in Renton years back and figured it was money burned since my iron did most jobs fine. Last week it bailed me out pulling a warped connector off a customer's board for $85 in parts rather than a $600 replacement, so now it lives on my bench full time. What low cost tool did you buy and then just never touch?
