Figured out why my camp stove always flares up
I learned to check the fuel type first.

Disagree completely. Fuel type rarely matters that much. Most modern stoves handle multiple fuels just fine. You probably have a clogged jet or bad air mixture. Or you're pumping it wrong and building too much pressure. Checking the fuel is just the easy answer, not the right one.
