That guy on the forum who told me to skip the $120 tent footprint

Last month I was about to order a fancy footprint for my new tent after reading too many reviews. Some random user named TrailRat42 said just grab a cheap tarp from Harbor Freight and cut it to size. I rolled my eyes but tried it anyway. Spent $8 instead of $120, and after 4 rainy nights near Big Sur, my tent floor is totally fine. The tarp is a little ugly but it does the exact same job. I even sized it smaller than the tent so water doesn't pool under it. Anyone else ditch the brand-name add-ons for a DIY hack that actually holds up?

Did the same with my footprint... polycro sheet, twelve bucks, three seasons strong.
