Junkyard radiator hose saved my Saturday, doubted it hard at first

My 94 Civic started leaking coolant at the lower rad hose last weekend, and the local parts store wanted $28 for a new one. I figured whatever, but then a buddy at the shop said check the pick and pull, they had a whole rack of hoses for $4 each. I was skeptical since it's a wear item, you know? But after 20 minutes of hunting I found one that matched the bend perfectly, no cracks or soft spots. Clamped it in, bled the system, and it held pressure fine. Did 40 miles yesterday on the highway, no drip. For $4 plus a $2 clamp set I saved like $22. Anyone else had luck with used cooling parts, or am I pushing it?

$4 for a lower hose that actually matches the bend is a win. Rubber is rubber if it is not cracked or swollen. I would run it.
