PSA: the $19 Harbor Freight angle grinder cut my junkyard spring swap better than my $140 one
My buddy loaned me his cheap Chicago Electric one after my good grinder died mid-project in the driveway, and it chewed through two rusted coil springs without a hiccup. Anyone else running the bargain bin tools on real jobs, or did I just get lucky with this one?
Honestly I watched a whole video about this like a year ago where a guy ran a bunch of cheap grinders till they died and the HF ones actually held up longer than some name brands in the test. The thing people dont get is the motors are basically the same on the inside, you're just paying for the name and a nicer cord. What kills grinders is heat and dust, not the price tag. If you let it cool down between cuts and blow the junk out once in a while it'll last. My old Dewalt burned up on me in like six months and I was pissed. At 19 bucks you can buy three of them and still be ahead.
