That $400 extended warranty actually paid off, now I feel weird about it

I bought a used SUV back in March and the finance guy pushed the extended warranty hard, like 400 bucks on top of the loan. I almost said no because everyone online says it's a scam, but the AC compressor went out at 40,000 miles and the repair estimate was 1,100 at a shop near Phoenix. The warranty covered everything except a 50 dollar deductible, so I basically came out ahead by 650 dollars. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I got lucky or if these things are worth it more often than people admit. Anyone else had one of these actually save them, or did I just hit the lottery on a bad compressor?
