Vent: I asked for a raise with a whole slide deck and got $0, my coworker just asked in a hallway and got $4k
I spent two weekends building a 12 slide deck showing how I saved the team $30k on vendor costs, presented it to my boss in a scheduled meeting, and got told budgets were tight. Two weeks later my coworker Dana caught our director by the coffee machine in Austin, said she was underpaid, and walked out with a $4k bump. I think I made it a big formal thing when all they wanted was a quick, direct ask. Has anyone else had better luck with the short hallway version than the full presentation?
