Warning: I paid $200 for a 'career coach' who just read my resume back to me

After getting passed over for a promotion at my Denver marketing job, I hired a career coach named Sarah who had great reviews. First session, she literally read my resume line by line and asked 'how did that make you feel' about a spreadsheet job I had in 2019. I got more useful advice from a random Reddit thread about salary negotiation. The second session she suggested I 'network more' and then charged me $150 for the hour, so $350 total for less than 90 minutes of fluff. Has anyone actually gotten real value from these coaches or are they all just charging for Google searches?

Like, did she think you forgot what was on it? A good coach should be asking about your actual job duties and results, not just the title and dates.
