Almost took a $4 pay cut to escape help desk until a coworker said one thing in the parking lot
I was about a week from accepting a job at a small shop in Plano that paid $17 an hour, down from my current $21, just because I was so sick of tickets. A guy on my team caught me in the parking lot and asked what the new place actually had me doing, and I realized I could not name a single task beyond "not this." That was the moment it clicked that I was running from the ticket queue, not toward anything, which is a bad reason to lose $160 a week. So I stayed, asked my manager for the networking cert training instead, and started applying to admin roles two months later. Has anyone else caught themselves about to jump just to get away from a desk, and how did you tell the difference between a real move and a panic move?
