The day my spreadsheet skills paid off in a warehouse

I was 6 months into a warehouse gig after leaving office work, and the manager was drowning in a messy inventory count. I spent my lunch break making a simple pivot table and showed him the waste patterns. He promoted me to the scheduling desk the next week, and now I do the same thing for shipment planning. Anyone else found old skills suddenly useful in a totally different job?
