Update: I won't touch pressure-treated wood for decks anymore
I've seen it rot out in under five years on multiple jobs. Cedar might be pricier, but it ages well and needs less work. How do you all handle clients who want the cheap stuff?

Man, I feel this in my bones. It's so frustrating to see that stuff fall apart after all the work that goes into it. Trying to talk clients into better materials is the worst part of the job sometimes, but showing them pictures of rotten decks usually helps. You're totally right to stick to your guns on it.

Oh absolutely, what kind of proof did you show? I had a guy look right at photos of a failed job just like @murphy.keith mentioned, and he still said the cheaper option was fine because his last deck "held up." It was literally sagging in the picture.
