Fought a stair nose for 3 hours before calling the shop
Last Tuesday I was doing a straight run of stairs in a split level over in Beaverton, and the top step had this funky angle where the hardwood met the carpet. I tried cutting the stair nose with my regular utility knife and it kept chipping the vinyl coating, looked awful. After three failed attempts I finally called the shop and the old timer said to use a fine tooth jigsaw blade with the material face down, go slow. Took me maybe 20 minutes after that and it came out clean as can be. I wasted a whole afternoon because I was too stubborn to pick up the phone, you know? Anyone else have a stair detail that made you feel like a rookie after years in the trade?
