Hit 500 miles on my rebuilt engine and the clutch died same day
Finally finished the rebuild on my old Civic after 6 months of weekends, and the odometer rolled past 500 miles during a morning run to the 7-Eleven meet spot. Then the clutch pedal went straight to the floor at a red light on the way home, so I had to coast into the parking lot and push it into a spot. Anyone else have a milestone celebration ruined by a failure that came out of nowhere right after?
Man that sucks so bad, I feel you on the timing. Same thing kinda happened to me, I finished swapping a motor in my old Corolla and the water pump let go like 20 miles after the break in. What saved me was just slowing way down on the next round, I re torqued everything and checked all the little stuff before I even drove it hard. Clutch going to the floor like that is usually the master or slave cylinder, mine did the exact same thing and it was a 40 dollar part and a bleeder screw. Start there before you pull the trans, way cheaper and faster. You got 500 good miles out of it so the rebuild itself is probably fine.
