That 30 minute chat with an old Corvette guy changed my whole meet routine

Yesterday at the Cars and Coffee in Portland, this retiree with a '72 Stingray pulled up next to my WRX and we just talked while the coffee cooled. He said, 'You're here to show off, not to win. Why are you stressing about your paint swirls?' That hit different because I'd been obsessing over a micro scratch for two weeks. Now I'm planning to bring a camp chair and just hang instead of polishing the whole time. Anyone else had a random stranger at a meet shift how they enjoy the morning?
