I owned a 1996 F150 with the old 4.9 straight six and plugs were a $12 job I could finish in 20 minutes in my driveway in Boise. My 2004 Ranger with the 4.0 has those two piece plugs where the bottom half snaps off in the head, and 3 of mine broke at 92k miles. Ford knew about this for years and just kept selling them, so I ended up buying a $70 extraction tool and pulling the head on cylinder 4. Anyone else deal with the broken plug tool or did you just pay a shop the $600?
