Shoutout to my neighbor Dale for the timing belt tip on my 04 Civic
Dale, who has rebuilt three Saturns in his garage off Route 9, told me to change the timing belt at 90k even though the manual says 105k, and mine let go at 104,300 miles so he was dead right. Now I'm stuck between saying the manual is a bad design choice or that Honda just got lucky with the margin, and I honestly can't tell which side I land on. Who's actually at fault here, the engineers who printed the number or the owners who trust it?
