Found a 99 Camry with 210k miles for $800 and drove it 900 miles home

Picked this up outside Phoenix last Tuesday from an old guy who just wanted it gone. AC blows cold, engine runs smooth, but the steering wheel shakes at 70 like a paint mixer. I took it to my usual shop and the tie rods were shot, cost me $180 in parts and a Saturday to fix. Now it's my daily and I'm honestly mad at how reliable these things are. Anyone else grab a boring sedan under 1k and end up loving it more than your newer car?

My 2010 Corolla was the same way. I paid $950 for it with a dented door and a check engine light that turned out to be a loose gas cap. Drove it from Dallas to Nashville two weeks later without a single hiccup. Now it's got 230k on it and I only change the oil and tires. I've had newer cars that needed way more attention in one year than this thing has needed in three. These boring Toyotas are like cockroaches, they just won't die and I mean that in the best way possible.
