Heard a kid at the register ask 'what's that paper' when I paid with cash

Was at the grocery store on Saturday and this little girl behind me pointed at my wallet and asked her mom what the paper was. Mom said 'that's money honey' and the kid looked confused. I mean when did cash become the weird option? It got me thinking about how fast things changed. I've been cash only for about 8 years now and sometimes I feel like I'm the last person in line who still counts out bills. Has anyone else had a moment where you realized how rare cash is getting?

I had the same thing happen at a gas station last month, it was surreal.

Did you ever think it was just people exaggerating before it happened to you? I used to roll my eyes at stories like this, but after my own run in last month I totally get why @miles_perez said it felt surreal. Something about seeing it with your own eyes just hits different and makes you believe the wild stuff people share on here.
