My grandmother's comment about counting out change at the register made me slow down a lot
She told me I was handing over bills like I was trying to get rid of them, so now I actually look at what I'm spending and it's cut my weekly grocery total by about $40 just from not grabbing extras.

And it's funny you say that, because last week I tried to put together a quick grocery list for just myself, and before I knew it I was staring at $60 for three days of food... nothing fancy, just eggs, bread, some chicken and a sad little bag of apples. My grandmother used to feed a family of six on a single $20 bill back in the 70s, and I honestly can't wrap my head around how that math even worked. Makes you wonder if we're all just being played for fools at the checkout lane.
