Old recipe cards from my grandma hit different

Found a shoebox of her cards last weekend, stained with vanilla and grease. One for Sunday gravy has no measurements, just says "cook till it looks right" which is somehow better than any spec I've followed in 20 years. Ever dig through old family recipes and wonder if we overcomplicate everything now?
