Debate: should we push back on customers who want creosote logs instead of a real sweep?
Last month in Dayton I had a guy wave me off at the door, said his neighbor swore by those chemical creosote logs and he didn't need me scraping his flue. I told him those logs don't remove glazed creosote, they just mask it, but he shut the door on me. Two weeks later his neighbor called me out for a smoky draft and I found a 1/4 inch buildup blocking the liner. Do we have a duty to argue harder upfront, or is it on the homeowner once we warn them?
