PSA: dropped $85 on a 'smart' fridge cam that flagged my milk as bad 3 days early
It guessed wrong and I dumped a gallon that was still fine, so now I'm stuck deciding if the app or my own nose is the real judge. Anyone still trust these things or did you all go back to just sniffing the carton?
Man, that stinks. I had one of those cameras for about two weeks before I unplugged it. The trick I learned is to trust the date on the carton first, then do the sniff test, and only then look at the app. The app is just guessing based on when you put stuff in and a timer it runs in the background, it can't actually smell anything. If you want to keep using it, treat the alert as a heads up to check the milk yourself instead of a command to toss it. Did you try recalibrating it or setting the freshness window longer in the settings?
