Volunteer reffing changed my view on zebras after one night in Tucson

I always complained about refs when watching games. Last month I filled in for a buddy reffing a men's league game in Tucson and got screamed at for 40 straight minutes. The speed of the play is way faster than it looks on TV, and I missed a clear offside because I was watching the puck carrier. I apologized to the coach after and he just laughed and said now I get it. Has anyone else actually tried officiating after griping about calls?
