The $90 collet that rode around in my truck for 8 months

So last spring I bought a full set of ER32 collets off a retiring machinist down in Tulsa. Paid $90 for the whole box, felt like a steal. Turns out one of them, the 1/4 inch one, was missing its retaining screw. I tossed it in my glovebox thinking I'd grab a replacement from the tool truck next week. Fast forward to last Friday, I'm setting up a job and my chuck has a 1/4 shank end mill. I search everywhere, no luck, then I remember that loose collet. I pull it out, still no screw, but I find a random 10-32 bolt in my cup holder that fits. Ran that thing for 6 hours straight, perfect finish, zero chatter. How many of you have parts that just live in your truck for months before they finally become useful?

Call the guy you bought them from, he probably has the screw in a jar somewhere.
