Overheard a dad at the library telling his kid that coding is just typing

I was at the library last weekend picking up some books for my kids, and I overheard a dad tell his son that coding is basically just typing a lot. The kid was maybe 10 and looked confused. It got me thinking how often people boil down complex skills to something way too simple. For beginners, that kind of advice can set wrong expectations, because it ignores all the problem solving and debugging that takes up most of the time. Anyone else run into people who think coding is just banging out lines of text?
