Spent 2 hours on a Python bug that was one indent off, and I sat there staring at the wrong line the whole time

I was fixing an if/else block for my grocery list script and the else kept running no matter what I typed in. Turned out one line under the else was indented with 4 spaces instead of 8, so Python read it as code that ran no matter what, and I spent 2 hours googling loops for nothing. Does anyone know a good way to actually see whitespace in VS Code, because I can't keep doing this.
