My old commute used to be 90 minutes each way, now I roll out of bed with 10 minutes to spare
I dropped out of community college in Portland back in 2018 after one semester. I had this whole plan to become a graphic designer but the commute from my place to campus was brutal... two buses and a train every morning. Now I work remote doing basic design work for a small print shop, and honestly I make more money than I did when I was in school. Has anyone else found that dropping out actually opened up a job that didn't need a degree?

Just skip the degree if you've already got the skills... works out fine.

People are so obsessed with checking boxes instead of actually learning stuff. Same thing happens with certifications, job titles, all that. Skills speak louder than the paper unless you're trying to get through a corporate HR filter that just scans for keywords. Most of the time the degree is just a piece of paper proving you sat through classes, not that you can actually do the work. Real world experience beats classroom theory nine times out of ten when it comes to getting things done.
