A 30-year diver in Galveston told me to check my umbilical before every descent, and I didn't listen
I was doing a routine pier inspection in Galveston about 4 months ago and a guy named Ray who had been diving for 30 years told me to always walk my umbilical before splash, and I brushed it off because I was in a hurry. Two dives later my airline was kinked near the manifold and I felt the drag at 40 feet over a muddy bottom, and it scared me more than anything else that month. Does anyone else have a pre-dive check they picked up from an old-timer that you still do every single time?
