Dropped $150 on a custom dive knife that broke on the third wreck dive

Thought I was getting some fancy handcrafted titanium blade, and the stupid tip snapped off trying to pry open a stuck valve on an old anchor chain. Has anyone else had better luck with those cheap oyster knives from the hardware store?

My buddy Tim snapped the tip off a $200 dagger diving off the Keys last year trying to jimmy a lobster out of a crevice. It's a knife not a crowbar. I've been using the same $5 stainless oyster shucker from the hardware store for like 4 years and it still works fine for cutting line and prying stuff loose. The cheap steel is soft so it bends instead of breaking usually. People get too hung up on fancy materials when a basic chunk of metal will do the job.

Gosh, @jana179, I bet Tim's fancy knife was more about showing off than actually working underwater anyway...
