Went back to imaging drives with Clonezilla instead of that paid tool, and the $0 option won
I had a client's 6 year old Dell in the shop last Tuesday, bad drive, needed a full clone before I touched anything. I'd been using a paid imaging program for a while, around $70 a license, and it kept failing on a bad sector about 40 minutes in. Pulled out Clonezilla on a USB stick I've had for years, set it to skip bad blocks, and it finished the whole drive in 25 minutes with no errors. Honestly the free one handled the errors better than the paid one ever did for me, your mileage may vary depending on the drive. Anyone got a go-to for cloning half dead drives, or do you just stick with ddrescue when things look ugly?
