Slab edge curling cost me 3 days on a garage floor

I poured a 24x30 garage slab last month outside Tulsa and figured the edges would settle fine overnight like they always do. Next morning I came back and the whole perimeter had curled up maybe a quarter inch, enough to throw the forms out of whack and crack a corner. I spent two full days grinding and patching, then a third day redoing the saw cuts because the control joints were all wrong. Turns out I mixed the mix too wet because the temps were pushing 95 and I was rushing to beat the heat. A old timer I call Dave said I should have waited for the bleed water to evaporate and done a second pass with a magnesium float before troweling. I always skipped that step thinking it was unnecessary. Anyone else burn a whole job on this same dumb mistake or do I just win the award for stubbornness?
