That line about seeing how a subcrew changed after switching to morning stand-ups really hits home. We moved to early huddles on a remodel last year and the difference in communication was night and day. Just keep them short and focused, or people will start tuning out.

Just keep them short and focused" is the key part honestly. We did the same thing on a job last spring and I noticed people started phoning it in once the stand-ups dragged past 10 minutes. The best huddles I've been in are the ones where the foreman literally sets a timer and cuts people off if they start rambling about details that don't matter to everyone. It's tough to enforce at first but it makes a huge difference once the crew gets used to it.
