Why does nobody talk about keeping a daily site log by hand

My old super in Columbus told me 6 years ago to write a quick paper log every day, and it saved me last week when the GC tried to blame us for a 3 day delay on the foundation pour. Anyone else keep a paper backup like this or do you just trust the app?
