That 2000 dollar quote for botox made me question everything

I went in for a consult last Tuesday at a place near me in Baltimore, just for some preventative botox around my eyes. The nurse quoted me 2000 dollars for the year if I did three sessions. I was shocked because I thought it would be half that. But then I looked up the actual unit pricing and saw how some places charge 8 bucks a unit while others charge 15 for the same exact product. That got me thinking, are we paying for skill or just the fancy office with the cold towels? I get that injecting is a craft, but I've seen bad results from a cheap place and good results from a mid range one. So what's the real line between fair pricing and getting taken for a ride? Has anyone else run into a quote that made them rethink the whole procedure?

The whole "unit price" thing is such a rabbit hole once you start digging. But honestly, the difference between 8 and 15 bucks a unit probably comes down to how many years they've been doing it and if they know how to handle someone with thin skin or a weird muscle twitch, not the fancy furniture.
