The mall kiosk lady in St. Louis changed how I prep for fillers

I was walking through the Galleria last month and this kiosk lady DEMANDED I try her collagen mask. I told her I get filler injections every 6 months, and she said 'oh honey, you prep ALL wrong, you should be hydrating your skin for a WEEK before, not just the day before.' I never even thought about that, I would just show up and let the doctor do his thing. Now I'm drinking extra water and slathering on that basic hyaluronic serum 5 days ahead of my appointment. Has anyone else been told to prep differently, or is this kiosk lady just trying to sell me $80 face goop?

Is it just me, or does every kiosk lady act like they invented skincare? My friend Sarah had a similar thing happen before her wedding. She was getting lip filler and this lady at the mall told her to stop all retinol a full two weeks before, or her lips would bruise like crazy. She laughed it off, didn't listen, and sure enough showed up with a black and blue upper lip for her bridal shower. The doctor was like, yeah, you should have stopped that weeks ago. So maybe the kiosk lady has a point, even if the price tag is ridiculous. I mean, a basic serum and some water is probably all you really need, no need for the fancy overpriced stuff.
