Watched a med spa injector use expired product on a walk-in, so I grilled my own injector for 20 minutes
I was at a med spa in Scottsdale last month getting my usual lip filler when I saw something that made my stomach drop. The injector next to mine grabbed a syringe from a drawer that had a date sticker from 8 months earlier and used it on a walk-in client without blinking. I asked the front desk girl quietly what that was about and she just shrugged and said they keep the older stuff for people paying cash discounts. I went home and pulled up my own treatment records from the last 2 years and noticed two appointments where the product lot numbers didn't match what I was billed for. My regular injector in Tempe now gets a full interrogation from me every visit, lot number, expiration, manufacturer, all of it written on my receipt before I let her near my face. If you get filler or Botox anywhere, start asking to see the vial before they open it, because some places are absolutely cutting corners to save $40 a syringe. Has anyone else caught a clinic doing this, and did you report it to the state board or just leave?
That line about keeping the older stuff for cash discounts made my blood run cold. A friend of mine in Dallas caught her injector pulling from a separate drawer after she paid full price and asked for her lot number. The lady got weird and said the system was down, so my friend snapped a photo of the vial sitting on the tray and the date was six months past. She filed a complaint with the Texas board and never went back, and honestly I would have done the same thing.
