Went from running 1 mile in 28 minutes to my first 5k last Sunday, here's what actually worked
Tbh I started in March at 245 pounds and could barely jog to the corner. My first mile was a walk-run thing that took 28 minutes and I threw up after. Now I did my first real 5k in 41 minutes and didn't stop once. The change came when I quit using a fancy training plan and just did the same 2 mile loop every other day for 8 weeks straight. Boring as hell but my legs finally got used to it. Then I added a half mile each week. Has anyone else found that boring repetition beats all those fancy interval apps? I'm trying to figure out if I should stick with this for the sprint tri in November or switch to something else.
