Switched from glow plugs to a block heater this winter. Huge difference.

Old Peterbilt 379 wouldn't start below 20 degrees no matter what plugs I used. Tossed in a $150 Zerostart tank heater and it fires right up now. Any of you guys running block heaters on older trucks?

You tried glow plugs too, right? I had the exact same battle with my old '97 379, swapped the plugs three times and still got nothing but white smoke. Threw a Zerostart in the lower radiator hose and now it's a whole different animal, fires up like it's summer even when it's below zero.

Bet check your battery cables, bad connection mimics glow plug issues every time.
