Warning: My old-school distrust of scan tools is gone after a tricky injector issue

For a long time, I thought fixing diesels was all about feel and experience, no need for fancy computers. But when I faced a weird injector problem that had me stumped, hooking up a good scan tool showed the fault clear as day, saving hours of guesswork. Do you guys still fight the digital shift, or have you come around to it?

Get it now, they're game-changers for weird faults.

My 6.7 Powerstroke threw a P228D... no balance rate issues, just a dead injector. Those scanners really are lifesavers for weird faults like that.

Which specific fault codes finally showed the injector issue... was it just balance rates or something deeper? @camerong39 is right about them being game-changers, but I still get tripped up when the data doesn't match the physical symptoms.
