I was at a gallery talk in Austin and the artist said 'the software is just the pencil' which really stuck with me.
It made me realize I've been putting way too much weight on mastering new programs instead of just making the art, so has anyone else gotten stuck in that tech loop and how did you break out of it?

Yeah that's a really good way to put it. I mean I spent months learning Blender just because I felt like I had to, but barely made anything. Finally just started sketching ideas on paper again and it helped a lot.

Honestly though, is it really a trap? Learning the software is part of the craft now... like a painter has to learn how oils mix. Maybe getting stuck is just part of the process before things click.
