My bathroom tile grout choice turned into a moldy mess
I was redoing my shower and had to pick between sanded grout for $18 a bag or the fancy epoxy stuff for $75. Went cheap, thinking it would be fine if I sealed it. Six months later, black mold spots are popping up everywhere, even with a fan running. The sealer didn't hold up to daily steam at all. I'm looking at a full re-grout already. Has anyone actually had the pricier grout last more than a couple years without this headache?

My uncle used that epoxy grout in his basement shower and it still cracked after three winters. The house shifts a little every year and nothing is truly waterproof forever. Maybe the real fix is just regrouting every few years as normal upkeep. Is a product that costs four times more really giving you four times the life?

That epoxy grout is a game changer for wet areas. My buddy's shower still looks new after five years.
