Why does nobody talk about how DIY projects get neighbors talking?

I see more folks sharing tools and ideas than ever before.

Seriously, my friend’s shed build started a whole block party.

Watch how a simple shed turns into the block's main attraction (you know, like a really boring reality show). Last time I tried to build something, I got more parenting tips than wood screws from the guys next door. The finished product is almost beside the point when you've had a dozen unplanned barbecues over it. Honestly, we should just skip the shed and schedule regular meetings in the backyard with power tools as props.

Tbh that "whole block party" thing makes me wonder if it's less about the shed and more about the building process. Like when someone's out there every weekend, neighbors start lending tools, giving opinions on paint colors, or just bringing over a beer to watch. The project becomes a reason for everyone to hang out and talk in a way that just doesn't happen normally. Honestly the finished shed is just the excuse, the real thing was all those little chats over the fence during the build.
