My $300 apron saved my back last month when a draft horse shifted on me.

I spent the money on a heavy-duty leather apron with a kidney pad after my old one wore thin, and it took the full weight of a sudden lean without a single bruise, so what's your go-to piece of safety gear that's actually worth the cash?

Does a leather apron really beat a good pair of steel-toe boots?

Totally! I had a hot piece of metal land right on my lap once and that apron saved me a nasty burn. You ever have a close call like that?
