I thought my kombucha was ruined after a trip to the mountains

I brought a batch with me on a camping trip near Boulder, and it got really cold at night, around 40 degrees. The next morning, the SCOBY sank and everything looked dead. I almost threw it out, but my friend said to just put it back in a warm spot for a few days. Sure enough, after warming up, it started making bubbles again and turned out fine. I guess the cold just made it go dormant. Has anyone else had a ferment seem to die from temperature shock and come back?

Right? I was so stressed the first time mine sank. Did yours still brew okay?
