Folks would gather round to see a big storefront go in, now they just snap pics
It felt like a community event back then, with everyone chatting! These days, people take a photo and walk off, which is kinda lonely for the trade.

Yeah it really does feel empty now. I miss when stuff like that was a real chance to talk to neighbors, even strangers. Getting a picture for your feed just isn't the same as sharing a moment with people right there. That quiet after someone snaps their photo and just leaves, it's a lonely kind of quiet. Makes the whole thing feel a bit fake, like a backdrop instead of a real place.

Ever notice that same quiet in coffee shops now? Was just at one where these two people took about ten photos of their drinks without saying a word to each other, then stared at their phones. The silence felt legit heavier than before they pulled out the camera.
