I once saw a museum display get the era wrong on a fossil, and it threw off the whole exhibit.

Oh dear, that must have been so disappointing to see. It really does shake your trust when a museum makes an error like that. I agree with laura_mitchell60 about telling a staff member, but it's a pity it wasn't caught sooner. Something that basic being wrong can confuse visitors for a long time. I feel for you, it would have bothered me too.
