Shoutout to my buddy who caught me using a torch on a brake line

I was trying to loosen a rusted brake line on my '05 Silverado and had a propane torch ready to go. My buddy walked over and asked if I wanted to boil the brake fluid and blow the line apart in my face. Has anyone else almost made a dumb mistake like that without thinking it through first?

Dude, you seriously almost cooked yourself? Brake fluid is nasty stuff when it gets hot, it's not just water that boils. I had a buddy who tried the same thing on an old Ford and the line let go at the fitting, shot fluid all over his arm. He was lucky it wasn't worse. Glad your buddy was there to stop you from turning your face into a pressure cooker.

Turning your face into a pressure cooker" is exactly right. I did the same dumb thing on a Chevy years ago. Fluid shot out and hit my chest, left a nasty chemical burn for weeks. Lucky I didn't get it in my eyes.
